It’s been another interesting year for ‘I Told You I Was Sick’. For the past six months or so, I’ve dedicated much of my focus to writing the content that you’ve requested. I’ve gotten a lot of wonderful conversations going on Instagram, I’ve set up my first Patreon account, and I’ve even become an Amazon Influencer

I also started the Shadow Spoonie campaign by asking veteran spoonies to help those who have yet to be diagnosed for friendly advice and direction. I’m happy to say it’s been going really well so far!

Furthermore, I came up with the term ‘linewalkers’ to describe my readers, fans, and followers. I think it works. Do you? If you haven’t seen the short video yet, now’s your chance!

Speaking of videos, I have also started reading some of my older blog posts on my YouTube channel, so, if you haven’t subscribed yet, get on that! I’ll be sharing a lot more videos with you in the coming year.

In the first part of 2018, I plan to focus on collecting anonymous stories from chronic illness patients who have been bullied by their doctors. I helped start a petition in early 2017 to help change the laws to protect patients from this very common but overlooked problem in America.

I truly believe there is going to be an increase in patients speaking up about the abuse they’ve suffered at the hands of medical professionals, and that this will bring about real change.

But before we get to all that, let’s take a moment to appreciate I Told You I Was Sick’s Top 10 Blog Posts of 2017.

What Did It Take for People to FINALLY Believe You’re Sick?

This is one of the questions I put out to the #spoonie community on Instagram. 8 Signs a Mobility Aid Could Improve Your Life

One of the more difficult decisions those with chronic illness have to make is whether or not to use a mobility aid. Feelings of guilt, embarrassment, and “giving up” are the common reasons spoonies hesitate to use a cane, walker, or scooter. If you’re still on the fence, try to look at it in a new way by discovering how a mobility aid can greatly improve your life!

Resentment – A Hidden Side Effect of (Finally) Being Diagnosed With a Chronic Illness

This was another difficult one for me to write. Because it can be so challenging for those of us with chronic illness to be believed, when we finally DO get a diagnosis, resentment is a common emotion that tags along for the ride. Even if you feel guilty about feeling this way, understand that it’s normal. When you allow yourself to work through it, you will have a chance to move past it and have more peace of mind.
