Do you still suffer from abdominal cramping, diarrhea, constipation and brain fog even though you’ve removed offending foods from your diet?
If so, I know exactly how you feel.
When I was diagnosed with gluten intolerance in 2003, I thought those symptoms would be a thing of the past. What I didn’t know is how damaged my digestive system actually was from eating gluten for the first twenty-three years of my life! Though the severe pain and diarrhea had stopped and I began to gain some weight, I still felt weak, drained, out-of-focus and sickly a lot of the time.
I ate a very bland diet of mostly plain chicken, rice, vegetables and some fruits but I just never felt quite “right”. Since I’d never felt healthy in my life, I wasn’t really sure what it was like but I knew that this couldn’t be as good as it got.
I was reading a copy of Better Nutrition magazine one day when I ran across an article on digestive enzymes. I’d never heard of them but was open-minded to trying new things to better my digestive health. The article explained how those with digestive health problems could benefit from adding a digestive enzyme to their diets. Those with digestive health problems often have chronic food intolerance and severe vitamin and nutritional deficiencies due to something called ‘malabsorption’.
Malabsorption basically means that the digestive tract is damaged or compromised by disease and has difficulty breaking down and absorbing nutrients, resulting in a host of unpleasant physical and mental health symptoms.
I didn’t think a pill could be life-changing. I’ve just never been one to believe you can just take a supplement and expect immediate results but with Solgar Digestive Aids, I did. Within a week my energy improved, my brain fog lifted the gurgling in my stomach stopped. I even started having more regular, normal bowel movements! (Always a great indictor you’re digesting your food properly.)
I also discovered I was able to add and digest a LOT more foods that were formerly forbidden to me. Especially dark, leafy green vegetables, which my body craved but had a terrible time digesting. I was even able to eat sweets again!
I’m still gluten free and always will stick to that diet. Digestive aids help break down food but they don’t treat gluten intolerance or celiac disease. That’s an autoimmune condition that digestive aids can do nothing to treat.
But I don’t mind. I don’t feel deprived at all. I’ve been taking Solgar Digestive Aids for over six years now and they’ve literally bettered my life! I even found that I don’t need to take them with each meal anymore but can even skip a day or two.
I’d recommend Solgar Digestive Aids to anybody who is suffering with gluten intolerance, celiac disease, chronic heartburn, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, leaky gut syndrome, and even those with other autoimmune conditions such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.
Research has shown that those who have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome may have an overgrowth of candida yeast in their bodies, which inhibits the body’s ability to properly break down and absorb food. Digestive aids also have a natural anti-inflammatory effect, which can help alleviate pain.
